MOPANI WORMS
IN PEANUT SAUCE
  • Description:

    This traditional dish combines a world of flavours to bring about a truly delightful meal. Be sure to soak your mopani worms for an extra juicy dish.

  • Ingredients:

    250 g mopane worms
    500 ml boiling water
    2 tsp. salt

    90 ml white wine vinegar
    ½ onion; chopped
    3 tbsp. peanut butter

    1 tsp. soy sauce
    Oil for frying

  • Method:

    1. Soak the mopane worms in the boiling water, salt and white vinegar for about 2 hours.
    2. After 2 hrs, drain and put the mopane worms in a pot. Add a little bit of water, close pot and bring to the boil for 5 minutes.
    3. Use a colander to drain off any excess water. In the same pot, heat the oil, add the onions and soy sauce and fry for a minute.
    4. Return the mopane worms to the pot and fry for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the peanut butter and mix.
