    If you love hamburgers just as much as boerewors rolls, combine the two into something that will prove to be a treat for kids, a surprise for guests and, best of all, an easy meal for you to prepare. This yummy twist on the traditional burger is great when you have friends over for a braai. Otherwise, simply prepare it in the pan for a mid-week meal if you’re running low on quick dinner ideas. Serve with a side salad or chips. Makes: 4 servings. Cooking time: 20 minutes.

  • Ingredients:

    500 g boerewors
    salad leaves or rocket

    4 bread rolls, halved
    4 jalapeño chillies, sliced

    4 slices of mozzarella cheese

  • Method:

    1. Preheat the oven to 230°C.
    2. Divide boerewors into four portions.
    3. Form each into a circle and secure with a skewer.
    4. Cook the wors in a dry pan.
    5. Place salad leaves on the bottom half of each roll, followed by a wors circle, a slice of cheese and then a few slices of chilli.
    6. Put in the oven and roast until cheese melts.
    7. Close with the other halves of the rolls and serve.
