Boerewors
and Chakalaka

    Both filling and delicious, this boerewors recipe with chakalaka combines two South African favourites. If you’ve had a long day at work or don’t have the time to prepare a wholesome feast, this meal is for you. It couldn’t get any easier but gets a high score in the comfort-food scale, making it a lovely idea for a weeknight or winter’s day. Serve this quick dinner with some potatoes or rice for a dish that the entire family will love.

  • Ingredients:

    500 g Championship Boerewors
    2 tbsp. sunflower oil

    1 can (410 g) Rhodes Chakalaka hot and spicy

    1 large onion, sliced

  • Method:

    1. Fry the boerewors in a frying pan until cooked and browned on all sides.
    2. Remove from the pan and set aside.
    3. Drain any excess fat from the pan.
    4. Heat the oil in the same frying pan and fry the onion for a few minutes until softened.
    5. Add the chakalaka and bring to the boil.
    6. Cut the boerewors into smaller pieces and add to the chakalaka mix.
    7. Heat through and serve with rice or mashed potatoes.
